POULTRY PRODUCTION IN RUSSIA INCREASED BY 5.4%

IN JANUARY-MAY 2017, THE POULTRY PRODUCTION VOLUME BY RUSSIAN AGRICULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS WAS 1,842.6 THS T ON A CARCASS WEIGHT BASIS (2,506.9 THS T OF LIVE WEIGHT POULTRY).

The production increased by 5.4% compared to January-May 2016.

Broken down by the federal subjects of the Russian Federation, the growth of production volumes was particularly strong in Belgorod Oblast (+17.1 ths t or +7.0%), Bryansk Oblast (+7.0 ths t or +9.1 %), Stavropol Krai (+13.6 ths t or +16.9%), Kursk Oblast (+7.8 ths t or +17.8%) Tula Oblast (+11.4 ths t; +74.8%) and the Republic of Bashkortostan (+9.6 ths t or +64.1%).

During this period, the poultry import volume increased by 10.7% compared to the same period of 2016, amounting to 38.6 ths t.

The chicken meat import in Russia from non-CIS countries increased by 11.5% (+3.9 ths t), compared to 2016 – to 37.6 ths t. The turkey meat import increased by 10.6% (+0.1 ths t) – to 1.1 ths t, while the duck meat import decreased by 50.0% (-0.008 ths t) to 0.01 ths t. There was no goose meat import during the period in question.
