AT SPG 2016, BECK PACK SYSTEMS A/S IS PRESENTING THE BECK-LASE SYSTEM FOR PERMANENTLY PRINTING LINERS FOR FISH BLOCKS.
The system addresses a growing market demand for traceability. A new system for marking fish block liners, launched by Beck Pack Systems A/S, is designed to improve efficiency and traceability in production. “Requirements for seafood traceability is increasing from consumers and processors, for instance in terms of type of fish, origin and certifications. Previously it has been difficult and time consuming to mark each waxed liner with this information as ink will easily smear and stickers will often fall off. The new system provides a reliable, easy process,” says Sales Manager Daniel Sereth Larsen.
FIRST OF ITS KIND
Beck-Lase is the first system of its kind on the market for marking frozen fish blocks, which are processed for fish fingers and burgers. It can be installed both on board fishing vessels and at onshore processing facilities. The new Beck-Lase method has been developed in cooperation with the printing company Domino. It works by using laser which works without compromising the waxed layer on the liner. The marking is created between the wax and carton with a special ink that reacts with the laser, permanently marking the blocks with for instance details on product type, time of production, batch codes or QR codes. “While improving efficiency in production with an automated process, the new method also allows for a greater amount of data to be added to each block, giving producers the ability to track each individual block for optimal safety,” says Daniel Sereth Larsen.
