Central de Carnes Premium Joins Forces with El Corte Inglés to be the First in the World to Implement the GGN Label (GLOBALG.A.P.) for Livestock

Central de Carnes Premium ’s GGN labeled products will be distributed exclusively by El Corte Inglés

GLOBALG.A.P. has confirmed Central de Carnes Premium is the first company in the world to implement the GGN label for livestock. Since June 2019, Central de Carnes Premium’s GGN labeled products are distributed exclusively by El Corte Inglés.

Central de Carnes Premium is a meat company in Madrid combining the experience and know-how of its professional team with new technology to guarantee food safety and quality.

“All our products are controlled from the beginning with a rigorous inspection of the supply chain: from the selection of raw materials, production methods, temperatures, and transport conditions of the products to the cleaning and maintenance of facilities.”

(Ana González, board member and CFO)

El Corte Inglés, also headquartered in Madrid, is the largest department store group in Europe and ranks third worldwide. Now, thanks to the GGN label, all of Central de Carnes Premium’s products will come from certified production and show compliance with good practices in relation to worker and animal welfare, traceability, responsible use of antibiotics, and respect for the environment.

Not satisfied with only certifying the origin of food, GLOBALG.A.P. created the GGN label so customers could identify and purchase products which have been produced following the practices outlined above. Transparency is the core value of the label, and consumers can confirm the origin of each product by looking up the individual registration number in the online database.

Kristian Moeller, CEO of GLOBALG.A.P., said:

“Our mission has always been to ensure the creation and distribution of safe food to every person on the planet. Thanks to Central de Carnes Premium and El Corte Inglés, we’ve now added livestock as a new scope to the GGN label, having started with aquaculture, agriculture, and flowers. The fact that we now cover all scopes for fresh pro-ducts is unique in the food business and makes the GGN label truly exceptional.”

GLOBALG.A.P. was founded in 1997 to ensure traceability and transparency from the farm to supermarket shelves. G.A.P. stands for good agricultural practices, and GLOBALG.A.P. is the worldwide standard that assures them. With a rapidly growing list of countries (more than 135), GLOBALG.A.P. collaborates with industry experts, producers, and retailers around the globe to improve best practices for generations to come. 
