According to the results of the third quarter of 2024, production of all kinds of food products has grown in Moscow. The food industry of the Russian capital is currently represented by about 320 companies, which employ approximately 65,000 people. Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov said that the city support allows producers to increase their production volumes, expand their product range and develop new markets.

“Moscow is one of the largest centers of food industry in Russia. The effective support tools developed under the leadership of Sergey Sobyanin help producers take leading positions and supply the domestic market with highly demanded food products. As of January-September 2024, the production of fish products doubled in the capital, meat production increased by more than eight percent, dairy production increased by almost nine percent, while the production of bakery and confectionery increased by six percent. During this period, companies shipped goods of almost 535 billion rubles, which is by 18% higher than in the same period last year,” said Maxim Liksutov.

In particular, from January to September 2024, about 370 thousand tons of bread and bakery products, approximately 228 thousand tons of sausage products, more than 112 thousand tons of chocolate, over 35 thousand tons of fish products and 13 thousand tons of cheese were produced in Moscow. In addition, the production of beverages in the capital increased by 14.6%.

“We actively support food companies and provide comfortable conditions for their sustainable development. For example, we are forming a large food cluster in the Prefecture of Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts that will bring together producers of dairy, meat, confectionery, bakery and other food products. Its territory will be 170 hectares, and more than 800 thousand square meters of industrial area will be built. Over 11,400 new jobs will be created. Attracting private investments, as well as the introduction of innovative solutions will allow us to increase the competitiveness of the food industry in Moscow,” said Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of Moscow Government, Head of Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
