A comprehensive genomic test can be performed immediately after the animal is born
Based on the results of the first half of 2026, the Center for Genomic Selection of the Miratorg company (Miratorg Genetics LLC) doubled the number of studies to confirm the origin of farm animals performed for third-party customers. In six months, more than 20 thousand such tests were carried out compared to 11 thousand a year earlier. The geography of work has also expanded significantly: if previously services were in demand mainly by farms in three regions of Central Russia, today orders come from almost the entire country – from the Kaliningrad region to the Altai Territory.
The increase in the number of orders to establish kinship became an indicator of a deeper trend. Businesses that started with basic ancestry testing are now increasingly interested in advanced genetic diagnostics. In parallel with confirmation of kinship, the Center’s specialists offer a comprehensive assessment of genetic indicators that directly affect the efficiency of livestock breeding.
We are talking about reproduction rates, calving ease, feed conversion and herd health. Research is carried out using the Genomic Center’s own test system “Miratorg-genetics”, developed on the basis of the Illumina technology platform. Unlike standard solutions, the center’s biochips are supplemented with markers that allow the identification of genetic variants associated with hereditary diseases and key economically useful traits.
A comprehensive genomic test can be performed immediately after the animal is born. This makes it possible from the first days to objectively assess its breeding value and make informed decisions on its further use in breeding work. This approach makes it possible to speed up the selection process by 2–3 times, increase the efficiency of herd reproduction and significantly reduce farm costs for raising animals that do not have the necessary genetic characteristics.

It allows you to make accurate management decisions based on objective genetic data and increase animal productivity. The growth in the number of studies and the expansion of the geography of customers confirms the high level of confidence in the technology on the part of the industry,” noted the press service of the Miratorg company.
The high status of the center and its role in the development of domestic genetics have been confirmed at the level of the professional community. The Miratorg genomic selection center in Domodedovo was visited by the winners of the all-Russian management competition “Leaders of the Agro-Industrial Complex” together with the team mentor, Senator Alexander Dvoinykh. The excursion participants got acquainted with the full cycle of DNA research – from isolating genetic material to applying samples to biochips and analyzing data for selection. The guests highly appreciated the technological equipment of the laboratory, which annually carries out more than 400 thousand studies according to international standards, as well as the ability to predict the breeding value of animals from the first days of life. The visit of industry representatives was further evidence ofthat the Miratorg genomic center is perceived as a key element of the technological sovereignty of Russian livestock farming.
