Russia is One of the World’s Largest Meat Producers

Russia is one of the world’s largest meat producers, said Sergei Yushin, head of the executive committee of the National Meat Association.

“Russia is one of the world’s largest producers of meat… This year, total production will be approximately, according to preliminary estimates, 12 million 300 thousand tons. This is fourth place in the world,” he said at the press conference “Russian pig farming – 2026: production growth and the threat of ASF.”

He also noted that there is increasing competition between meat categories as all industries want to grow. Thus, in the production of poultry meat, Russia has achieved “stunning success” over the past 20 years. “True, we import some from neighboring Belarus, some raw materials are imported from China, some from Brazil, but these are already volumes that are insignificant compared to production,” he added.

According to Yushin, Russia is one of the five largest global producers of poultry meat. “For turkey, this is an industry that practically did not exist in Russia 15 years ago; we rank second in the world,” he clarified.

In addition, the expert added that Russia is one of the top ten global producers of beef.
